View More ResultsUnlike a car accident, a truck crash can involve more than one responsible party. Depending on the facts, liability may reach:
The driver — for the crash itself
The trucking company (carrier) — for negligent hiring, training, supervision, or retention of a driver with a poor safety record
A leasing company — if the truck was leased rather than owned by the carrier
A maintenance contractor — if a mechanical failure contributed to the crash
A cargo broker — in some cases, depending on their role in the load
This is governed by federal trucking regulations (FMCSA) alongside Georgia law (O.C.G.A. § 51-1-6), and it's exactly the kind of layered investigation Hugh's insurance background is built for — most firms only look at the driver.
What we investigate
Hours-of-service violations. Federal rules (49 C.F.R. Part 395) limit how long a driver can be on the road before resting. Driver fatigue from hours-of-service violations is a common, and often overlooked, cause of truck crashes.
Negligent hiring and retention. Georgia law allows direct claims against a trucking company for negligently hiring, training, or keeping a driver on the road who shouldn't have been.
Insurance coverage. Trucking companies are required to carry significant insurance, a minimum of $750,000 for general freight carriers, up to $5 million for certain hazardous loads. That's a different scale of coverage than a typical car accident claim, and it changes how a case should be built from day one.
Freight corridors we know well
A large share of Southwest Georgia's truck traffic moves along US-19, which runs directly through Albany and Dougherty County, and US-82, the region's primary east-west freight route. If your crash happened on either of these highways, or anywhere else a commercial truck was involved, we can help.

You don't need the driver's logs, the carrier's insurance policy, or a legal theory before you call. Start with what you know.
Where and how the crash occurred, what you remember, your injuries, and whether any insurance company has contacted you.
We move quickly to identify time-sensitive evidence — driver logs, maintenance records, black box data — before it can be lost or overwritten, and handle communications with the trucking company's insurer.
Some matters resolve through negotiation. Others need a lawsuit. We explain the options and tradeoffs before you decide. No particular result or timeline can be promised.
